Art flows from the spirit, and pours through the soul. In my journey through life, I've tried to find art in various forms. This show represents the beginning of my journey into a new way to find art. As soon as I developed my first roll of film I was hooked.
In the meantime, this Summer I went to London, and spent 2 weeks photographing everything I could find. I came back with 22 rolls of film to develop and catalog. As soon as I was back I started using up loads more film.
I call this show a collection of Found-Light Photos, because it seems to me that I didn't create this art, I merely found it, and photographed it. Technique comes into question, sure, but most of what I've done so far has more to do with pure luck than any technique. I see the beauty, and I try to capture it, in my own way.
This show is a display of what I've found and what I've found to be beautiful. Several shots were taken in London, mostly night shots. The rest were taken here in Seattle, all at night. All of the shots have a dark theme: several Moon shots; reflections of light on water, and a few experimental pieces. I hope you enjoy them.

Big Ben At Night
I feel extremely lucky to have been able to get this shot: The golden glow from Big Ben, against the dark branch of a tree. In the displayed picture, you can actually see the cracks in the face of the clock. As you can see, it was late at night, and we didn't have much time to catch the bus by midnight.

Reflection of the big 'E' on the EdgeWater Inn, Seattle
This is one of my favorite shots, because of the simplicity and the stark nature of the shot - Just a long smear of red across 30 feet of water. Notice the bouy in the upper right corner. It is balanced perfectly on the left with 2 minor smears of light.

Lincoln Park, West Seattle
Roughly 4:00am; A Ferry Boat casts its reflection in the water, in line of a small fishing boat at anchor.

Houses Of Parliament at night
This shot was taken across from the River Thames. To me, it is reminiscent of Monet's several paintings on the same subject. I took many pictures of this scene, as it is one of my favorite s ites in London.

Government Houses
This is a shot on the way to Big Ben and the seat of Parliament. I like it because of the way the middle building seems to jump out at you, and because of the fine graininess and beautiful colors in all structures present.

Moon Through Scotch-broom
This is a shot taken near my home. It is a full moon, with the focus on the branch instead. It reminds me of a picture of Jupiter, Uranus, or some other alien planet.

Moon Through Ivy & Chain Link Fence
This is an interesting shot. It was actually a crescent moon, but I focused instead on the chain link fence, and the ivy. Because of this, it appears that the moon is full and warm.

Pyramid Moon, Elliot Bay
This was a very long exposure, well over 3 1/2 mins. Just before the quarter moon started to go over the horizon, I opened the shutter, and I left it open until the very last dot of red was gone. What turns out is a golden pyramid on the horizon.

The Moon Through Clouds
Another shot from Lincoln park. In the displayed version, you can actually see some lights from Vashon Island in the lower half. This was a long exposure shot (10-15 secs.) from a full zoom in, all the way zoomed out.

Cloudy Night In The Park
Another moon shot in a park near where I live. I like the cloudy face that seems to peer out at you. Is it human, demigod, imp or gargoyle? You decide.

Spaced Needle
A fun shot. I like to experiment, as you can probably see. I took 6 second exposure of the Space Needle, as I went from full zoom-in to full zoom-out. I had no idea that it would look like a martini glass.

Light On Water 1
I really like this series of shots of light reflections on water. To me, it is like stealing an impressionist painting, because it is so beautiful, mysterious and awesome. Here we have a long exposure of green and orangish colors near Pier 56 downtown Seattle.

Light on Water 2
More green and orange/brown light on water. This one is a shorter exposure which gives some definition to the water. This is one of my favorites.

Light On Water 3
This shot is a reflection of a neon sign over Pier 56. A longer exposure of Red, Purple, Yellow, and Blue lights reflected in the water.

Light on Water 4
Another shot of a reflected neon sign. The same beautiful colors, but with a shorter exposure to add definition and wave. One of my favorites.

Foyer in Windsor Castle
A foyer inside Windsor Castle, outside London. My Irish friend and I took a train out to Windsor, about an hour ride. The Castle had recently fallen victim to a raging fire. The English government spent a fortune to get it refurbished. I almost didn't get this shot. Somebody was just about to come around the corner. It is the only daylight shot in my show, but I think the reflected light fits well into my theme.
